     Singapore is a small city-state in Southeast Asia. Singapore is a sovereign county that gained it's independence from Malaysia in 1965. This small but economically powerful country has it's own government, military and legal system. The population is a mix of chinese, Malay, Indian and other ethnic groups. Singaporeans speak English, Mandarin, Malaym and Tamil.      Singapore actively mitigates hazards through planning.  Hazards are potential threats, while disasters cause significant harm and castastrophes are extreme large scale disasters. Singapore has not experienced a catastrophe, but changes in climate and global pandemics could pose potential threats.
